Voices from Alumnae & Alumni

tatsu.jpg "I learnt about diversity."
I think that majoring in pGSS trained me to become more kind towards others. By learning about a variety of problems beyond the boundaries of academic disciplines, I was able to consider the power dynamics arising from gender and sexuality that occur in daily life for the first time. I understood that my friends, family, co-workers and, of course, myself, all of the people I come in contact with in my daily life, are unconsciously rowing against the current, living within those power dynamics. Realizing this, I started to care about others more deeply than before and became able to differentiate myself from others. Majoring in pGSS did not just impart academic knowledge. It helped me think about the important viewpoints essential to living together with various kinds of people.
