an open lecture by Ta-wei Chi on Saturday, February 25th, 2012.

Professor Chi graduated from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) with his PhD and is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Taiwanese Literature at National Chengchi University (NCCU).
Knowledgeable in the areas of Gender Studies, Queer Theory and Literary Theory, Professor Chi has written books on queer literature such as 『膜』and『恋物癖』.
He is also known for his translation of the word "Queer" into Chinese as 「酷兒」.

In his lecture, Professor Chi will discuss his experiences writing GLBT Science and Fantasy fiction Literature as well as his experiences as a social activist.
Further, he will explain how those experiences formed a basis for his translation of "Queer" as 「酷兒」and what meaning he attaches to those words.
He also plans to talk about the context of the word 「酷兒」in Taiwan.
