ICU Center for Gender Studies announces that our First Annual International Workshop will be held in November 2004. Entitled "Creating 'Knowledge' on Human Security and Gender: From Asian Perspectives," this workshop sets its focal point on "Human Security," integrating "Peace, Security, and Conviviality", which we conceive as the best representation of the essence and our goals of the workshop.

With twenty researchers and NGO activists from ten Asian countries, the workshop consists of: 1) reports on the current situation of Gender Studies; 2) presentation of research papers on important issues around human security faced by each country; 3) discussion on theoretical and strategic approaches to such vital issues as to the ways to solve the problems in Asia, emphasizing gender perspectives on human security.

We need to share information with one another. By establishing networks among the Asian researchers, we can enhance the possibilities of future collaboration and can contribute to the formation of an Asian Women's Studies association. The outcomes will be uploaded on the CGS Website.
